  1. I have to say something to defend Cortese after your bad review. Something I have learned after being in the food business for 36 years is everybody has a bad night once in awhile. Every place has at least one bad or overly enthusiastic waiter or waitress. It sounds to me like you were there on a bad night. I have been eating there for years, and I have never had a bad meal.
I look forward to the iceburg salad, because no one does it anymore. It also comes with grated real gorgonzola cheese in generous portions that I have not seen anywhere.Unless your in Spain you olives are either coming out of a can or jar. Usually black ones are out of a can.
The pork chop milanese comes the same way everytime.....sizzleing in fragrent garlic, fat, juicy....I know this because I order it over and over. The seafood is never over cooked, thier pasta is fresh, and thier red sauce is tasty as well. I will agree that the menu is too large. It is a chore to read, let alone make a decision. As far as fresh ingredients go, the place is a mob scene on any given night. Mondays, Tuesdays, Sundays.....busy busy busy... . I have waiters and waitresses that I favor.....much like any other place in town. Cortese has been in the neighborhood for decades, and that is not because it has 2 star dinners.Give them another chance...

  2. Taj Indian Restaurant?

I'd curious to know how it stacks up to Currys of India and Moghul...

  3. How about Moxie Grill in Conklin? In my opinion they have the only edible pizza in Broome County, even though they're primarily a steakhouse (and I haven't tried Mad Moose yet).

  4. I had the pleasure of eating some pizza and snacks at the Mad Moose last night. There pizza was good. Thin crispy crust, with a variety of toppings. The corn fritters, although were pre-fab were a nice change from the typical fried bar variety stuff. There were fried won-tons with goat cheese and some kind of fruit compote that I think included some pears. Thier bar-b-que was good, and so was thier pancetta roll-ups. The bread dip was ordinary, but the bread was homemade(somewhere) and fresh. Nice place for a private party, with a very nice vip room complete with gas fireplace, and flat screen TV. Also the biggest projection TV I have ever seen in a bar....:) I liked it, and will go back.
